Traveling Coaches Corner
This page provides resources and information for traveling coaches.
Referee Fees & Assignments
The SPSC works with a Referee Assignor, who schedules referees for all travel games. Due to state mandate, coaches are not able to communicate directly with referees. Coaches can log into the Arbiter Sports System to confirm that a referee has been assigned to their game. All referee-related questions, complaints or compliments can be submitted to Scott Masak, Referee Assignor, at 216-6382 or smasak@maysa.org.
Home teams are required to pay referees before the game begins (generally handled by the Team Manager). The club issues checks to teams at the beginning of the season that will cover the referee fees for all home games.
Practice Schedules
Each team is assigned a night to practice at each field. Teams are also encouraged to stay off the playing fields as much as possible and to use open green space for their practices in order to save wear and tear on the fields.
Fields
- A list of soccer fields can be found here.
- Use Friday nights for makeup games (or additional practices).
- A game may bump you off your practice field (check the game schedules).
- ONLY reschedule weeknight games for Friday or YOUR practice night at YOUR practice field.
- Get agreement with the team you share the practice field with before you schedule extra games that would bump them.
- If you swap practice nights or fields with another team for the season, email the Field Coordinator so the schedule can be updated.
- If the schedule does not have you sharing a practice field at the start of the season, it may later.
- Please use the grass around the field as much as possible to reduce wear and tear on the fields.
- Make sure all trash is picked up after practice/games. Have the team "police" the area at the end of practice/games.
- If the goals have become unsecured, stake them back down or inform the field coordinator.
